Kansas Turnpike Eligibility Criteria

Gas

    KTA only permits LOGO signing for Gas station companies at specific locations on the turnpike. All GAS business inquiries must first be approved by KTA.

    1. Provide continuous operation at least 12 hours per day, seven (7) days a week, including holidays, subject to the availability of fuel. If fuel is not available, the business shall post on the premises the location of the nearest available source.
    2. Provide vehicle services including fuel, oil, air and water.
    3. Provide modern restroom facilities, drinking water, and public access to a telephone for emergency purposes or be located on the same property, within walking distance, as a business providing these items. This other business shall either be under the same ownership or the services shall be provided under a contractual agreement.

Food

    KTA only permits LOGO signing for Food/Restaurant companies at specific locations on the turnpike. All FOOD business inquiries must first be approved by KTA.

    1. Provide continuous operation, at least 10 hours per day, six (6) days a week, with a minimum seating capacity of 20 people. Outdoor seating may be considered to reach the minimum seating capacity.
    2. Food establishments within malls must have an outside entrance and on premise signing visible to the traveling public.
    3. Provide modern restroom facilities drinking water, and public access to a telephone for emergency purposes.

Lodging

    1. Provide staff availability for check-in 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week and 365 days per year.
    2. Provide a minimum of 10 units, each including a bathroom and sleeping facilities to accommodate at least two (2) persons and one (1) parking stall per unit.
    3. Provide public access to a telephone for emergency purposes.

Camping

    1. Provide a minimum of 20 spaces to accommodate camping tents, travel trailers and/or motorized campers.
    2. Provide modern restroom facilities, drinking water and public access to a telephone for emergency purposes.
    3. Provide a sanitary disposal system for travel trailers and/or motorized campers.

Attractions

    1. Attractions requesting Attraction signing must apply through the Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism, who evaluates the attraction and determines the eligibility for signage.
    2. Provide continuous operation, at least six (6) hours per day, five (5) days per week, one of which must be a Saturday or Sunday, excluding certain holidays.
    3. Provide sufficient staff to allow for a significant experience for the traveling motorist for amusement, historical, cultural, or leisure activities.
    4. Provide modern restroom facilities, drinking water and public access to a telephone for emergency purposes.
    5. Provide for parking on site or have available parking for 10 vehicles or whatever is suitable for the specific attraction within two (2) blocks of the attraction. Bus parking must also be available.
    6. Attraction must have an annual attendance of 2,000 visitors.
    7. Provide clearly for display any general admission charges at the place of entry to the attraction.
